is it even possible to convert a ruckus to 5mm pinion gearing? would it fit?
or would there be a lot of modding involved?

You want to place a 5mm pinion on the stock motor? Which Ruckus do you have?

You can get a reducer sleeve, many companies sell them.

no, i'm looking at new motors and not sure if i should get the 5mm or 1/8 inch version

ruckus considered a light or heavy duty "application"?

have the 2wd brushless

Light. Heck, the 2wd only uses a 48p spur/ pinion stock. If you go to 5mm setup I would look at mod1 pitch.

would the 5mm setup even be necessary? what would be the benefit?

well if i bought a motor that was 5mm shaft and came with a 5mm 48P pinion (ruckus runs 48P), would i need to mod anything? or will it fit the 2wd brushless ruckus with no or minimal issues?

No, unless the gear it came with was different enough (teeth wise) that it would need a change in spur gear.

I just dropped a MacLan 550 can (5mm shaft) and ESC in my Ruckus. I also went to 32P gears. SOME Axial spur gears fit. I'll be running a 60T/12T setup in mine.

I'll see how well it works when in get my new spur in this week. I HATE 48P gears. They're not good for high powered brushless bashing.20171203_220445.jpg
