Stretch the ECX Temper?

Has anybody attempted to stretch their 1/18 temper? I'm looking at it and if I can get about 1/2 at each axle it will really open up options for different bodies. The driveshafts definitely have plenty of travel to them. Ia total of 1 inch on these is alot but even an 1/8 at each end would help.

I already have wheel spacers. Bought them when I picked up the temper and absolutely love them. I'm talking about moving the wheels forward and backward alittle. It will give more stability when going up and over stuff and actually give even more flex ontop of the ridiculous flex it already has.

Haven't figured out exactly how I'm going to do it yet. The biggest issue I'm seeing right now is the shock angles. Just have to figure a different mount for them. Unfortunately I'm in the middle of moving so I'm not really going to have any time to do anything on it for a month or so right now.

maybe try to fab some chassis extensions for the shock mounts. i would think it would be pretty easy to make the links themselves longer, maybe by adding some steering link pieces into them.

Been working on this also I have a 1/10 body ready to go but found a 1/18 Silverado at Target that fits perfectly. I did add some chassis extensions and cut up the original battery and Rx tray. Moved them up and out. Pretty stiff suspension now so need to look into some softer shocks. But the best think about it now is that instead of torque twist it pulls wheelies.

I'm going to head over to my hobby shop today and see what I can find for shocks. After getting it completely done I hated how high the body was and it was extremely top heavy so I took it all apart and put the shocks where they were originally. It looks great now but doesn't work too well, still need shocks. While it was apart I did throw a new radio and ESC in then put a 3s battery in and changed the motor to the tazer 280 just to see how it would run and it definitely has some power.

Well I finally made it over there and picked up a few things. Here are the parts cost me right at $20. I will post some pictures as I figure out how exactly I am going to do it.

What I was able to get done today. I am only stretching the rear. And from center at each end is 5" which makes it 10" from center to center on the wheels. I did put a Traxxas driveshaft in because the stock was too short. I also have a custom frame just hasn't been mounted yet and that is where I am mounting the shocks. Hopefully I will finish it tomorrow

You can go either way. This is my redcat which is a clone of the ecx that i made a scale chassis for and shortened to 14th scale 17523411_1942219902680824_4631022024850715364_n.jpg
