I was strolling through my LHS and he had a lone Boost on the shelf marked down to $100. So I got it on a whim thinking it was the same as the Amp DB. Well, it's close. Then I had it in the yard playing with my kids and their Amp MTs it acted like it was overheat protecting itself. So I parked it for the night and put on some spare Amp MT wheels/tires.

This afternoon I installed an RPM servo saver delete bellcrank, a cheap no name black can 21t motor, and a Traxxas XL5 ESC for now. While the nose was open I added three 1/2oz tire weights under the bellcrank(1.5oz total). It's like a new car altogether now.

Next is a HobbyWing 1060 with drag brake for mine and the 2 Amp MTs.

I'm leaving it wingless for the time being.

$100 for a ECX Boost? Sounds like you got a pretty good deal to me. Looks good @Brake Weight

It did to me, too. I had thought of RPM arms and making it wide like the Amps, but I think I'll stick with the narrower track until something wears out or gives out. I've found some $35-40 dollar Chinese sensorless setups online and may even go that route for the crew. Something to increase the runs times that were shortened by swapping the 45t for the ECX 20t motors. With 4 of them going it becomes a chore to keep up with chargers and batteries.

That's what kids are for, while you're out playing with the RC's the kids task is to make sure your batteries are always charged. :D

I wish they could. 5, 7, & 13yo. The oldest can but is ADHD and forgets which one is the hottest and I end up breaking out the multimeter to figure it out. I've got the RTR wall chargers and two 12v chargers going with the NiMH and LiPos for me.

That is a good deal for a boost. I think they stopped making them because they released the AMP buggy.

I have been working regularly with a dozen kids at a time in that exact age range, all with their own cars for decades. I put tape with nimbers on their packs so they know which is what and have a system where hot packs go under the fan to cool--a cool one goes on the charger and the charged ones go in a ventilated box--all this is labeled for newbies. Then it is up to them to keep packs charged if they want to drive their cars = no charged packs = no driving. Thus they learn out of their own motivation to drive :)

Sounds like you're having fun times with your crew! They'll get a lot out of it while they're playing. :) :)

I didn't look at it that way. I'll label each one their own specific batteries and specific charger. A1, A2, S1, S2, C1, and C2. They'll get two each. Then set up a power strip in the garage for them.

If you can give them three packs each = one cooling one charging and one driving. Unless you have high enough mah that they can have continuous driving with two? And if motors aren't brushless they must cool down sometimes too--this can help the chargers catch up. I have small fans around for cooling batts & motors. At one larger summer camp I even had a mini office refrigerator to throw packs in for faster cooling. The ideas is, of course to keep the driving going :)
