I don't know about ecs or motors, I always just buy a new one just like the one it came with. You may need to change gears, the LiPo batteries (I have one) are REALLY powerful and my gears were stripped pretty quickly. You won't need a new esc to tell you when the battery is low, just get this. https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/lipo-voltage-checker-warning-alarm/DYNF0002.htmlCan any one point me to an ecs / brushless motor combo good for my Ruckus? And if I need to change gears, Would also like to run Lipo battery.
Thank You
What the heck why you dissin my truck?!?! I've had it for years and it's never let me down. Start small, then work from there as you get more experienced. Before you even think about going brushless you need to change out the diffs.

You will also need a transmitter and receiver.
This combo should work if you don't mind waiting on the slow boat from China, you will also need to buy some pinions. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GoolRC-S2435-4800KV-Brushless-Motor-25A-ESC-Combo-Set-for-1-18-RC-A5I7/132237461072?epid=19004203762&hash=item1ec9f78650:g:8VwAAOSw6ShZTNxB&LH_BIN=1
Or you could get this motor https://www.ebay.com/itm/SKYRC-MICRO-TORO-4300KV-14T-4P-BRUSHLESS-MOTOR-1-18-CAR/372387315831?hash=item56b4038077:g:~FMAAOSwBWJbYKQj&LH_BIN=1
and this esc https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-18-1-16-25A-2S-3S-Sensorless-Waterproof-Brushless-ESC-Fits-Traxxas-1-18-Latrax/132596447824?hash=item1edf5d3a50:g:Q7QAAOSwwIta31mi&LH_BIN=1
I would also change out the stock shocks as they are rubbish and will just cause you issues down the road.
Replace all the bushings with rubber sealed bearings.
The 1/18 Ecx Ruckus requires way too much time, effort and money to make it a worthwhile truck even stock, let alone brushless. Why spend $150+ on a $99 rc? Save yourself some time and a headache and take the money you were going to use to buy the upgrade parts for the Ruckus, sell the Ruckus and buy one of these https://www.nitrorcx.com/25c103-14-valor-mt-blue-brushless.html

Jeez I'm 12 I don't have the money for that! I have replaced the motor twice and currently have a LiPo battery. The new motor paired with the LiPo caused my gears to strip because they're so powerful. I'm saving for metal gears. Not dissin anything. Just giving my feedback based on my personal experiences with this platform. Heck I even went out and bought a second one.
Yes, we can tell. Try not to be so aggressive towards those attempting to give sound advice.Jeez I'm 12
That will be to do with the meshing. I run brushless and on 3s and it’s fine.Jeez I'm 12 I don't have the money for that! I have replaced the motor twice and currently have a LiPo battery. Thanks! I'm 15 now, and I'm really sorry I got mad at everyone who was trying to help. I still have that old Ruckus, but I can't use it because my LiPo charger broke. Any recommendations?Wltoys A979 1/18 2.4G 4WD Off-Road Truck is a part for part clone to the ecx ruckus 1/18 Amazon carries tons of aluminum upgrades/hopup parts for it that are pretty affordable and if you're looking for a brushless setup goolrc has what your looking for also on Amazon GoolRC 2435 4800KV 4P Sensorless Brushless Motor with 25A Brushless ESC should be the ticket
2s lipo battery will wake it up, more run time and slight power increase. Upgrade your pinion gear for more speed. Upgrading the shocks will also improve handling as opposed to the stock ones. Switching your motor from brushed to brushless will for sure increase the ponies in the Ruckus. That would require you to upgrade your esc and getting a separate receiver. Upgrade your spur gear from the plastic to metal is a must if you do these upgradesI have a 4WD Ruckus 1/18. I have been out of R/C's for about 20 years. I'm looking for upgrades. Something I can do myself. Would like a little faster and more battery life for more drive time. I am mechanically inclined. I grew up racing Go Karts
Thanks
