4wd 1/10 Torment Upgrade

Hey everyone, I know there isn't much information out there about these rigs due to how rare they are these days. I wanted to share my build/upgrade of my Torment, hopefully it can help someone else out in the future. After a few Amazon cars, this was my first real hobby grade r/c. I got it from Ebay, looking back and knowing what I know now, I think I overpaid for it because I was such a noob. The picture isn't that great, but when it arrived it was very dirty and had filthy Speedtreads Shootout on it. The driveshaft was also disconnected, so it was only 2WD. The first thing I did was give it a very good cleaning. After cleaning it I fixed the driveshaft so that it was 4wd again. Next on the list was a set of new Proline wheels for her. After wheels and tires I upgraded to stronger, more modern servo. After a few months I decided to upgrade to brushless, I installed a Reedy 3200kv brushless motor & esc. My intentions are only to run it on 2s, but after a short test run on 3s for fun, I stripped the stock spur. So I switched to a steel Hot Racing spur. I also swapped out to old factory Spektrum rx/TX for a Varioprop combo. Last but not least, I fitted a custom Proline Raptor body on her. This whole process took about a year, as I purchased it in April '22. For a while I said I was going to leave it stock & brushed, but a little voice in my head just kept telling me upgrade it. I'm glad I did, it was a great learning experience & it can keep up with the rest of my fleet now. I don't plan on taking her off the shelf much, but when I do, I'll only run 2s packs to keep breakages to a minimum. I'll post some pics in chronological order. Thanks.

Definetely keep it on 2S if you have an aftermarket motor/ESC. 3S for me just broke parts, and 4S did so nearly every pass I made. I went through this giant process to upgrade/change out the axles and the slipper, and it just destroys differential ring gears (which are completely unavailable). On 2S it was a pretty reliable 40mph grass truck

Thanks for the tip. When I do run it, it'll be on 2S only & on grass. The last thing I wanna do is break anything else on it. It'll probably spend it's life as a shelf queen, as parts for these things are becoming harder and harder to come by unfortunately.
